Grand Canyon

(August 19 - 25, 2001). I Flew From West Palm Beach to Las Vegas to meet my Father (Ken), Brother David, Fred & his son Greg. We then flew to the south rim of the Grand Canyon. Monday August 20. We started hiking down the South Kaibab Trail to meet our raft party at Phantom Ranch. From the Phatom Ranch (mile 88) we traveled nearly 5 days on the Colorado River until mile marker 187. There are several rapids rate at 9, 10 & 10+ on this stretch of the river. At mile marker 187 we where air lifted out via Helicopter to Bar 10 Ranch where we caught a 9 passenger Cessna plane back to Las Vegas. Our trip on the river was guided by Wilderness River Adventures.

Picture 15 - View From Bar 10 Ranch. 2 Bell Helicopters and in the backgound you will see Whitman International Airport (Dirt Runway).
